Colorfly: The Story Behind The Name
Growing up, I fondly remember going to my grandmother's house and trying to catch butterflies. My grandmother had a butterfly bush and two nets that my sisters and I would often use as we relentlessly chased butterflies for hours. I always really like butterflies, their colors, the way they glided through the air, their gentleness. However, when I was about twelve years old, I experienced the beauty of a butterfly in a whole new way.
It was a beautiful day, where the sun was shining and the sky was as clear as ever. I was at a summer camp, surrounded by the great outdoors while kayaking on a river. I somehow got ahead of my group and had to stop and wait for them to catch up. As I looked around at the swaying trees, glistening water, and blue sky, something caught my eye. A dozen monarch butterflies fluttering about on the shore. I couldn't take my eyes off them. Their color was astounding, their fluttering was gentle, and they all stayed together gliding through the air.
As I gazed upon this sight, I felt a presence and peace that I never had before. It was in that moment, that for the first time in my life, I became aware of God's presence, being, and gentleness. And that week at summer camp, I gave my life to Christ and decided to follow Him for the rest of my days.
As I grew up, butterflies always seemed to appear when I needed reassurance, peace, and comfort. They became a reminder to me of God's gentle voice, faithful spirit, and endless love. Butterflies, which I once just liked to chase, became something that bares great meaning to me today.
The name Colorfly, represents my love for using color in all my designs and my love for butterflies. Each of Colorfly Creative's designs are simple and have subtle elements about them, yet they are designed with the purpose to bring joy, encouragement, and love to those you might be sending a card to. Though a butterfly is a small, gentle creature, I've found it can have huge influence. In the same way, I hope that any Colorfly card sent, though a small gesture, can bare great influence in the lives of the people who receive them.
