Something New
It's always fun to get something new! Personally, I love to get a new jacket or accessory, but I have to admit, getting a new computer is much better. For the past 5 years I have been designing, editing, and well living off of my trusty old 2010 MacBook Pro Laptop. It's seen a lot, handled a lot, and been through a lot. Surviving multiple jobs, college, hundreds of designs and photographs my trusty, once speedy laptop became not that reliable. After a year of being kicked out of programs, black screens appearing, and waiting 10 minutes or more for one file to open, I established purchasing a new computer was a must.
A few weeks ago I decided to invest in the 2015 iMac with Retina Display. To say I'm obsessed, is an understatement. There are so many wonderful features about this iMac that my 2010 MacBook Pro just didn’t quite have. As a designer and photographer it is crucial to see every detail and color that my designs and images contain. From the first moment I turned the iMac on I could see a MAJOR difference in color, detail, and quality. While using my 2010 MacBook Pro, I ran into several issues when trying to print my work. The main issues were with color. Colors were printing and appearing much different, especially in photographs. Therefore when I started editing images on the iMac, I was in awe of the trueness of the colors and richness of the details being displayed. Below is the same exact photograph displayed on both the 2015 iMac with Retina Display and the 2010 Macbook Pro. See for yourself!

In addition to the high res, retina display features, the iMac has one of the fastest core processers, which is great when working with large files and programs. As well as large drive and memory space. However one down fall is that this iMac is pricey. I was very hesitant to make such an investment, however just in the few weeks I’ve had this computer, it has proven to be worth it. The iMac may not be for everyone, however for me it seems to be a great fit and has given Colorfly the extra boost it needs!
As I have just been getting started with Colorfly over the past few months, I've realized how frustrating it was to work on my laptop. Now that I have speed, extra memory, and the ability to see every detail and true colors, I have been able to design more effectively and efficiently. In fact, the second week of October Colorfly will be releasing another round of greeting card designs! Which is another "something new" to come.
Though my old computer went with me through a lot and helped me start Colorfly, let's just say I am glad to have something new.
